I have to wake up @ 6am in the morning in order to reach on time.
I m not going to plan my timetable with any 8am lessons or i might just die of lack of sleep.

Going for my 4th camp tml.
i hope its going to be fun and interesting, or else i m going regret signing up for it.
had to sacrifice a few other activities, just for this camp. sigh.
if only we can have the best of both worlds.

well, school is starting and i m not really looking forward to studying.
my brain is rusting in my skull for the past 2.5 years.
hopefully, it's still functional when school starts on 10 august.

Its so difficult to plan the freaking time table!!!!

Haven been blogging for quite awhile.

21st to 25th june

SCAMP!

It was the type of crazy fun. Met new people from my own faculty. Learnt about cors bidding while eating tons of fruits. Supper @ NUH, beach games @ sentosa, sp revelation @ fort canning, clubbing @ butter factory. Sleeping on the floor for 4 nights, almost freezed to death while sleeping in the LTs. All these in 5d4ns.

The interesting part is things only got high during the last day in camp.

We don't usually cheer much nor cheer with much enthusiasm.

However everyone stayed back to do cheers after camp ends. Lol!

NUS CSC CAMP!

Only signed up for this camp like 2 days before the camp starts.lol.

A little different from scamp.. less crazy, nonetheless fun!

Found this camp quite meaningful, got to visit different kinds of home and learn that not all people are as fortunate as myself.

We stayed @ aloha changi on the last night.. wow its quite a nice chalet!

so big and spacious!

The og is going kbox this friday.

2nd july to 3rd july

Strike knight bbq + stayover!

Our first og outing since camp (17 to 20th june)

I reached home from csc camp @ around 3pm plus.. rested for a couple hours and went to Shihui house for bbq!

Lol.. we got lots of burnt food.. thanks to our bbq chef.. hahaha

They taught me how to play mahjong at 2am in the morning,

Yes I din know how to play mahjong for the past 21yrs of my life.

Hahahaha

slept for a few hours and went for breakfast @ amk central the next morning.

Victors porridge with you tiao and soya bean drink looks damn nice.

Shd try it some time.

went to arcade @ amk hub after that.

Lol.. we won a cute mouse shape sharpener each.. Haha

Always enjoyed hanging out with them, though I have know them for less then a month, there is a feeling of warmth and security when I am around these nice people:)

4th july

Old clothes collection @ Hougang!

This is organised by my science faculty.

went down to Hougang @ 830am with my scamp og and started knocking on doors and collecting old newspaper and clothes from door to door.

The event only ended @ around 5 plus.

Headed home.. shag!

Will be heading down to NUS to play ball later in the afternoon.

Why must NUS be so far away from my house? Lol

this is what I call enjoying life.

Attending camps.

Going for outings.

Meeting new people.

Making new friends.

Doing volunteer work.

And its sad to know that all these will end in 4 weeks time and it will be studying for the next few months before semester holz.

Nvm, shall enjoy the remaining time to the fullest.

There are still so many things I want to achieve but so little time left.

I nv thought that 2.5 mths of holidays is not enough.

SCAMP - 21st to 25th June

Scamp is fun.
Got to know more people from my own faculty.
Clubbing was great, everyone just went crazy.. haha.

The 4D3N Gen Acts camp came to an end this afternoon.
It was a pretty fun and fulfilling camp.
Learned alot from it.

Would say that it's a pretty special camp, very different from faculty camps (i suppose)
Faculty camps are probably more orientated towards guy/girl interaction.
However this camp focuses more on building friendship and getting to understand yourself better.
It makes me reflect on myself, and realised that there are so much room for improvement in terms of character and attitude towards people around me.

i am very exhausted now, and just wanna slack at home for the next one week.
but i am leaving for science camp tml morning and wont be back for 5D4N. LOL!

Headed to settlers cafe after that.

I feel so old after hanging around people who are 2 yrs younger than myself!

I think we should all stop working and start having fun before uni starts.

I am only 21 yrs old once and I want to have lots of fun.

Work? I have the next 50yrs to work after I graduate, what's the hurry??

I am so occupied for the next 2 weeks plus..

wanted to go for a swim today.
So i jogged from my place to hougang swimming complex.
with my backpack.
so uncomfortable with the backpack swaying left right up down while you are running
this is the last time i am going to jog with a backpack.

went home to change after that and went out for dinner with my cheese cake baking training group. Long time since we have gathered.
yea, almost everyone left that place already.

Ate too much, they portion is freaking huge.

OMG.

Well the damn rain stopped at around 9 plus and i have no choice but to take it.

Yes i am officially jobless.

Woke up @ 645am, met raeger @ SK MRT and headed to NUS for Science Talk.
Reached there @ around 830am, and was waiting for Jia Hui to arrive, but he din't!
called him and he is still sleeping.. omg!
This science talk is his idea btw.
so we went off without him first. JH joined us a bit later.
Oh well, i guess the talk wasnt very useful for either of us.
It's probably more useful for those who is making a decision between Science and other faculty or is pondering which subject to major in.

For us, we have decided in Science major Physic, so .. lol.. i dont even know why am i there to listen to this talk.

Went off at around 1pm.

i have been pondering about this issue for the past 2 weeks.
should i stay or should i leave.
I have been there since mid nov 2009, and my contract is suppose to end mid may.
and i need to submit my one mth notice tml or the day after if i wanna leave after my contract ends.

why i want to leave..
To be honest, i seriously hate the nature of this job.
I may sound like a weakling, cant even do such an "easy" job.
but i am so proud of myself, that i have survived for 5 mths.
and seriously, 5 mths is no easy feat.
How many can say they survived 5 mths, and can meet the company's expectations?
i dreaded work every single day, like how a primary one student dread the first day of school.

why i want to stay..
Its not about money, since when did i care about money? ha.
Its the few nice colleagues there that makes your day.
I had a nice time laughing like crazy with them during lunch and after work.

and because i have absolutely nothing to do after i leave.
there is a 2.5mths break before uni starts.

Cops: yes you did, you just killed an old lady 30 mins ago, someone saw you.
Edwin: where?
Cops: washington, USA.
Edwin: WTF?! 30mins ago i was still busy baking cheese cake.
Cops: someone saw you in washington, USA with a knife 30 mins ago.
Edwin: WTF?!?!?! How can i be there 30 mins ago and back in singapore!
Cops: dun give excuses.

basically, thats what happened, except it dint involve the cops nor did i murder anyone.. haha.

Been watching some movies these few days, and omg, some really sucked.
PAINTBALL - failed horror movie.
This plot has been used too many times.
STORM SEEKER - failed disaster movie.
Basically about piloting a plane into a hurricane and out of a hurricane. thats all -.-

Tml is public holiday, but it doesnt make a difference to me.
i will still be @ my cheese cake shop baking cheese cake.
The problem with my job is, i dun always get the weekend/public holiday off and this seriously pisses me off.

Every morning when i reach the cake shop i have to worry about the 108 cheese cake that i need to bake for that day.
"what if i dun reach 108?"
zzzzz.
Die die also must hit 108.

The most challenging part is baking the cheese cake.
You will never know what will happen until you start to bake the cheese cake.
These cheese cake are freaking unpredictable!
Some are so difficult that it takes forever to finish baking.

so every time i start to bake a cheese cake i will be dreading.. "is this a good one or a bad one"
and i have to dread 108 times a day.

can see how stressful it is or not!

I so freaking love my damn cake shop.
When you do something nice and someone send a compliment to your cheese cake shop.
It will never reach you.
The management will take a look and.. ' uh.. ok.. pls file this away"

When you make a mistake and someone sends a complaint to your cheese cake shop.
It confirms reach you.
And you will find your head rolling on the floor within like 2 minutes.
and you have to spend the next 2 hours trying to save your own ass.
No wonder there are people tendering resignation every few days.

One of the worst day at work.
Seriously made me wanna quit.
Think i spoiled one of the cheese cake.
Was frantically trying to save my own ass.
Phew.. seems like its ok already.
At least for now.

Learned a few things while in the cake shop.
Rule #1: Cover your own Ass. Because its your ass.
Rule #2: Cover your friend's ass. Because someday you might need them to cover yours.
Rule #3: Dont ever work in a damn cake shop! Because its a cake shop!

hm.. another batch mate of mine came over today and told me he is leaving today.
i was like "OMGWTFBBQ!"
a bit surprised, coz its so sudden..lol.

all the nice and meaningful stuff.

In the world of customer service, customers are always right.
No matter what.

and by using the "i dont know" method described in the previous post,
it does makes us customer seem a little retarded though we always get away with the "i dont know method"

eg.

you just bought a cheese burger and you walked out of the shop.
You are stopped for not paying.
just say "I DONT KNOW THIS IS NOT FREE!"
and you can get away with a free cheese burger.

when you litter and get caught and fine.
just say "I DONT KNOW I WILL BE FINED 200 DOLLARS!"
No worries, you will be spared because you did not know.

however it does make us seem so ignorant and dumb.
so here is a new method, its called the " I KNOW BUT I DUN CARE!" method.
Feel free to try it out.. HAHAHA!

Not only makes you sound more intelligent than the "i dont know" method. But it can also get you some free cheese cake. ESPECIALLY IF YOU USE IT ON MY CAKE SHOP!!

I walked into the usual cheese cake shop.
Intending to get a dozen cheese cake.
however i do not have any money on me.
so i decided to use the "i dont know" to get away.

Right infront of me, a huge sign displayed the cost of the cheese cake "$2.00/piece"
But I DONT KNOW its there even though i just saw it.
Took a dozen cheese cake and placed it on the counter.
ME: can you help me wrap these up.
The staff helped me wrap the cheese cake and said: $24.00 sir.
I heard it loud and clear but i decided to act as if I DONT KNOW and walked out of the shop with the cheese cake.

Another staff stopped me and requested that i pay for the cheese cake.
"what?! 24.00?! WHY SHOULD I PAY?! I DONT KNOW IT IS NOT FREE!!!"

The staff explained that there is a huge sign stating "$2.00/piece"

"what?! WHY SHOULD I PAY?! I DONT KNOW THAT THE FREAKING BIG SIGN WITH RED BOLD WORDS IS THERE!"

The staff explained that the cashier did mention its 24.00 for 12 cheese cake.

"WHAT?! I DONT KNOW! I JUST SO COINCIDENTALLY HAPPEN TO BE DEAF JUST AS THE TOTAL COST WAS MENTIONED. I SO COINCIDENTALLY HAPPEN TO BE BLIND WHEN I WALK PAST THE PRICE BOARD!"

The manager came out to check what was the commotion about.
I told him, " I DONT KNOW! I DONT KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT FREE!! I JUST HAPPEN TO TURN INTO A TOTAL RETARD WHEN I STEP INTO THE CAKE SHOP!"

The manager did not buy my story.
But i know, this cake shop people are very easy to scared one.
"i will email your management to say you charge me for something that I DONT KNOW has charges"

you know what? i walked out of the shop not with 12 but 24 freaking free cheese cake.

so the next time you visit this cake shop again.. and want some free cheese cakes? just say the magic word I DONT KNOW!

My head chef set targets for us to hit in the month of march and i dun find it fair.
13.5 cheese cake per hour for a newbie like me.
equivalent to the senior bakers that have been at this bakery for way longer than me.
the funny thing is, my head chef only requires other newbies from my batch to hit 11.5 cheese cake per hour.

You can argue that, my head chef thinks that i am a baker with higher potential therefore higher expectation.

Whatever happens at the end of the day, i am the one that gets more trouble.. for the same pay and not being appreciated at all.

so i have decided to heck the 13.5 cheese cake per hour and to bake at my own pace!

pay me well and i will only do half hearted work.
treat me well i will do it whole heartedly.

Today, not such a bad day, at least not so bad until now.

In this cheese cake baking job, you will not know what's going to happen until after the customer takes a bite at the cheese cake you baked.

some things may come back to haunt you awhile later.
something like the customer gets stomachache after eating the cheese cake you bake.
then after some investigation you realized that they actually kept the cheese cake out in the open for 2 freaking weeks before eating it.
of course stomachache la!

come purchase cheese cake from the bakery i work in, probably the best cheese cake shop.

I walked into the cheese cake shop and saw a brochure placed on the counter titled "corporate discounts".
curious, i picked one up and took a look.
oh! It has a list of 100 companies whose staff enjoys 20% discount when they purchase cheese cake and by showing their company staff pass to the counter assistant.
I began to search through the entire list for my company's name.. um.. "Cheese Pie Private Limited..."
YAY! Saw it!
I was overjoyed! I get 20% off the cheese cakes! WOHOOO!!!

So i asked the counter assistant " Hi, i can get 20% off if i am from "cheese pie private limited right?"
the staff answered "yes"
so i asked again, "is this a recent promotion?"
the staff smiled and answered this promotion has been around for the past 10 years.

"10 years?!" I mumbled to myself.
"10 YEARS?!" I shouted, " I have been purchasing cheese cake without 20% for the PAST 10 YEARS?!?!"
"WHY DIN'T YOU TELL ME I AM ELIGIBLE FOR CHEESE CAKE DISCOUNTS?!"

The staff answered that he did not know i was from "cheese pie private limited", and the brochures has been placed infront of the counter for the past 10 years.

YES I KNOW! I have been seeing this damn brochures infront of this counter for the past 10 years, however i am just too lazy to pick them up using my own freaking hands despite knowing that there might be some discounts off the cheese cake.

I am so angry, i felt so cheated. I know its entirely my damn fault for not finding out that there's a cheese cake discount however.. being a typical fussy customer i cant admit that i am wrong. I AM ALWAYS RIGHT! The customer service staff is ALWAYS WRONG!

and so i order to proof that they are wrong i turned, looked at the staff and said "look at my face."

The staff was confused, but followed my instructions and stared at me.

" DO YOU SEE THE WORDS "I AM FROM CHEESE PIE PTE LTD" WRITTEN ALL OVER MY FACE?"

"HELLO! IT'S SO FREAKING OBVIOUS THAT I AM FROM THAT COMPANY. I HAVE THE CHEESE PIE FACE OK!"

"So whose fault is it for not notifying me that there is a discount for me company?"
"IT'S YOURS!"

Before the shocked staff can say anything i continued "What should you do when you are wrong?"
"COMPENSATE!"

I actually kept track of the number of cheese cake i bought from this shop, lucky me.
Total of 3819 over the past 10 years.
And guess what, i kept all the 3819 receipts for situations like this AND I BRING THEM AROUND WITH ME EVERYDAY!
hahaha!!! Am i a genius or what?!

So i took out all the 3819 receipts, all nicely laminated and showed it to the staff.
Oh i even laminated them for such situations.

"NOW, YOU BETTER CALCULATE ALL THE DISCOUNTS I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN FOR THE PAST 10 FREAKING YEARS AND REFUND ME MY FREAKING MONEY!"

I dont care if it's my fault.

i was told to bake 13 cheese cake per hour.
so.. i baked 13 cheese cake per hour for 8.25hrs per day.
total of approx 108 cheese cakes.
and i got screwed because one of the cheese cake wasn't bake properly.
i admit its my fault.

i looked at my fellow bakers.
10 cheese cake per hour for 8.25hrs per day.
total of approx 83 cheese cakes.
they also got the same screwing if one cheese cake was not baked properly.
and i dun see them being screwed because they din hit 13.0!

Makes me wonder why in the world should i work my ass out when i can do a more relaxing job, get the same pay and get the same screwing if i make mistakes.

if i bake 10 cheese cake / hr, i would have 1.4 mins more time per cheese cake.
i would have more time to attend to my cheese cake, making sure it doesnt burn.

like i have mentioned before, noone is going to give a damn if you can bake 10,13, or 20 cheese cakes/hr. The head baker is still going to jump on you if you screw up one cheese cake.

There's totally no incentive to bake more cheese cake.

so i have made up my mind.
from the next working day onwards.
i will bake 10.0 cheese cake per hour.
i will still get the same pay.
i have more time per cheese cake = minimize burnt or deformed cheese cakes.
and most imptly, i can have more time to relax.

this is final.

enough of cheese cake stories for now.

despite sawing the huge sign indicating "self-service" + tongs + trays in-front of the cashier,

The cashier indicated politely to me that its "self service" and i can select the pastry using the tongs & trays provided.

After buying it, i realized that the cashier charged me wrongly.
There's suppose to be a 50% off the cheese cake.

However, i did not tell the cashier about the wrong charges at that point of time.
Instead, i decided to wait till 2 years later, go back to the same bakery and make a fuss about the damn piece of cheese cake which i bought 2 years ago.

There's a reason why i hate reading romance novels.
and it has always been the same reason - bad & sad endings.
that's why i stopped reading them for awhile.

A couple of weeks back when i visited a bookstore,
came across a book lying alone on the half empty shelf.
being curious, i picked it up, and had a look at the cover page.
The title wasn't catchy at all.
Another one of those typical romance novel.
i tossed it back onto the shelf and went off.

A week later, i revisited the same bookstore again.
That same book was lying at the same position as i had left it last week.
"Din't the shopkeeper tidy the place?" i thought to myself.
I picked it up and decided to place it nicely on the shelf.
Being curious, i began to read the synopsis at the back of the book.

"not bad" i thought to myself.
However based on previous experiences, nice synopsis does not equate to nice ending.
Despite having a bad feeling about the ending, i bought the book.

The first couple of chapters were nice - as usual.
Things began to change in the third chapter.
I realized that it is not a bright & cheerful novel as described in the synopsis.
Got cheated once again.
This book cost me freaking $15.90!
But i really hate sad romance novels.

i stare down at the book now, pondering if i should continue reading, or toss them into my cupboard like i did with all the other half-read books.
